RETURN YOSHI

Human Enrichment & Leadership Programs

is asking for the public’s help in returning Elle's stolen service animal, please watch the videos below

A young woman distraught over service animal theft in Palmdale, California— Thursday, May 10, 2018 — Eleanor Cordero, disabled mental health young woman was shocked and distraught to find that thieves had trespassed onto her property and stolen her 25-year-old Scarlet Macaw service animal of 10 years, YOSHI.

Eleanor upon discovery of the theft immediately notified local sheriff’s department and was even further dismayed when the responding officer reprimanded her for having the service animal housed on her front porch. Eleanor stated that in her five years plus of residency at that address her service animal frequently is left on her front porch inside his cage so that he can receive fresh air and sun, and furthermore weather permitting YOSHI had spent many a night in the warm spring and summer on the porch undisturbed.

The local sheriff’s department was hesitant to take Eleanor’s report and the evidence of security video surveillance seriously and less than enthusiastically left a report number and sheriffs business card before leaving. Eleanor states she later traveled to the Palmdale Sheriff’s station to provide video evidence and again was met with dismissive attitudes by the deputy on duty.

No further action was taken by the sheriff’s department. Video footage was not collected at that time. Eleanor vehemently stressed to the deputy on duty the urgency of YOSHI’s return as he requires a special diet and medication for his life threatening illness and the fact that YOSHI is a $2000.00 dollar service animal, but was still met with resistance.

We are now seeking everyone's help to share the word and to inform the public to solicit help with any information or leads on YOSHI’s whereabouts and safe return,

God bless and thank you,

Martha Cordero
